Ep96: When Friends are Friends Forever
Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
A group of 60 students on average, gathered together weekly in their hight school years. They gathered to rehearse, to sing to act to dance. This performance group called First In Line had motivations to commit to this process, as touring and performing was the end game. But, I think there was more of a call for them to gather faithfully each week. I have a strong hunch, that they faithfully gathered to be present with others, in a safe place, where their brand of person was welcomed with open arms. They gathered, to be.
Following the recent death of one of own First In Line members of years gone by, a prompt to reunite collectively, in full reunion fashion, to reconnect and honor our sweet friend Pam, and all of our relationships with her. Life is not a promise keeper. No promises we will have tomorrow let alone a year or ten from now. This weekend was our way to say I love you to each other. To hug. To laugh. To cry. To share from our hearts.
We honored our friendships, and celebrated that we will see Pam again. We rested in knowing that we are all friends, forever.
"For friends are friends forever, when the Lord's the Lord of them. And a friend will not say never, 'cause the welcome will not end. Though it's hard to let you go, in the Father's hand we know, that a lifetime's not too long, to live as friends"

Monday Mar 28, 2022
Monday Mar 28, 2022
With windshield wipers clearing the pounding rain, I wipe the tears from eyes. Both, so I can see. It's my car ride return visit from my home state of California, after celebrating the lives of three different friends whose days had come to an end here on earth. I share from my heart, as I see it is so, the impact that death has on life and life, on death.
A good cry cleanses like the rain.
I have been changed, as the furniture has been rearranged.

Life, by the very word, is meant to be lived. How many of those years we are afforded to live out, is unknown to us. And in some cases we have very little control over effecting that bottom line. But, where that is not true, is in the how we live those years. Some would say of living life, there is something to the how, and how long. Maybe, maybe not. No guarantees of course. The only thing one can control, is making the choice to really live. No matter our circumstances, we have the authority and power to choose to dig in deep and live. My guest and aunt, Coni Berliner has left some footprints in the sand for us to follow. Listen in to our conversation, and hang on through our reminiscing that may leave you on the side lines for a few seconds. We roll naturally like a Sunday afternoon visit on the phone. But don't you worry! This party line is for you. The surprising and beautiful guideposts to a life well lived and forever young, are laid out as we take a journey in time and through it.
